The casino games most played in India are Andar Bahar and Teen Patti, followed by roulette, blackjack, baccarat and slots. Each one has its own rules and its own house edge, the built-in margin that keeps the casino ahead over time.
This guide explains how every major game works, what it costs you in the long run and what to check before you sit down at a table.
Most played in India:Andar Bahar and Teen Patti, followed by roulette, blackjack, baccarat and slots.
Easiest to learn:Andar Bahar and roulette. In Andar Bahar you pick one of two sides and the dealer does the rest.
Lowest house edge:Blackjack with basic strategy, then the baccarat Banker bet at about 1.06%. European roulette sits at 2.7%, and slots usually cost more.
The law:Real-money online casino games fall under the 2025 ban. Free-to-play games and licensed land casinos are still allowed.
Can you play casino games online in India?
Not for real money. The Online Gaming Act 2025 bans online money games across India, and casino games fall inside that ban. Free-to-play versions are allowed, and licensed casinos still run in Goa and Sikkim. Our guide to gambling law in India covers the Act and state rules in full.

What casino games are popular in India?
Andar Bahar, Teen Patti and Jhandi Munda come from Indian card tables and festival fairs. Roulette, blackjack and baccarat are the classic table games, and slots make up the largest share of any casino lobby. Here is how each one plays.
Indian classic
01
Andar Bahar
A middle card is dealt face up, then cards go alternately to Andar (left) and Bahar (right) until one matches its rank. You back the side you think gets the match. Rounds take seconds, so a balance moves quickly.
Three-card Indian poker. Each player bets blind or seen and tries to hold the best hand or make everyone else fold. A trail, three cards of the same rank, beats everything; a plain high card is the weakest hand.
You bet on where the ball lands. A European wheel has 37 pockets and one zero; an American wheel adds a double zero and pays the same, so your odds get worse. Red or black and odd or even hit often and pay even money.
Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Your decisions change the result, which is why basic strategy matters here more than at any other table. Check that blackjack pays 3 to 2 and whether the dealer stands on soft 17.
One of the oldest casino games. You back the Player hand, the Banker hand or a tie, and the dealer draws by fixed rules, so there are no decisions after the bet. Banker wins slightly more often and pays a 5% commission.
In Texas Hold'em you get two hole cards and share five community cards dealt on the flop, turn and river. You play against other people, and the room takes a cut of each pot called the rake. Position and pot odds decide more than luck over many hands.
Spin the reels and get paid for matching symbols on the paylines. Every result comes from a random number generator. The return to player (RTP) printed in the info panel is a long-run average and says nothing about your next 40 spins.
Progressive jackpot games feed a small slice of every bet into a prize pool that keeps growing until someone hits it. The headline prize is real, but the chance of winning it on any spin is tiny, and the base game often returns less to fund the pool.

A large wheel split into segments, each paying a different amount, or a draw of numbered balls. You pick a segment or numbers and wait for the result. The rarer the segment, the bigger the payout.

Dice
Games such as sic bo roll three dice, and you bet on the total, a specific number or a combination. Big and Small bets cover half the totals and pay even money. Exact combinations pay far more and land far less.

Jhandi Munda
A traditional Indian dice game played with six dice marked heart, spade, diamond, club, crown and flag. You pick a symbol, and the payout depends on how many dice show it after the roll. If none do, the bet loses.

How do casino games compare on speed, skill and house edge?
Fast games with no decisions, like slots and Andar Bahar, burn through a budget quickest. Blackjack and poker reward skill, and baccarat's Banker bet has one of the lowest edges of any bet that needs no strategy.

Live dealer
What are live dealer casino games?
Live dealer games are streamed from a studio, where a real person deals cards or spins a wheel while you place bets on screen. They move slower than software games and feel closer to a real table.
Back Player or Banker while a dealer turns real cards on camera. Squeeze versions reveal cards slowly for drama.
Live roulette
A dealer spins a physical wheel. You place chips on a digital layout and the result is read from the wheel itself.
Live blackjack
Seven seats per table is common, with a bet-behind option when seats are full. Side bets like Perfect Pairs carry a bigger edge than the main game.
Live poker
Casino versions such as Casino Hold'em pit you against the dealer, not other players, so a house edge replaces the rake.
Live Andar Bahar
One of the most popular live tables with Indian players. A dealer deals both sides by hand, and rounds still finish in under a minute.
Live Teen Patti
You play your three cards against the dealer's hand. Rules differ from the home game, so read the table's help screen first.
Before you play
What should you check before playing a casino game?
Read the rules and payouts on the help screen, confirm which version of the game you are playing, check the RTP or house edge, and set a budget and stop time before the first round.
Playing on a phone
Most casino games are built for mobile first and run in a phone browser on Android or iOS. Small screens hide the help panel and the bet total, so open both before you tap. Our apps guide explains what to check before installing anything.
01
Open the help screen
Every game has one. It lists the rules, every payout and the table minimum and maximum.
02
Find the version
European or American roulette, 3 to 2 or 6 to 5 blackjack. The name on the lobby tile doesn't always tell you.
03
Look for the RTP or house edge
Studios print RTP in the info panel. If a game doesn't show one, don't assume a number.
04
Price the side bets
Side bets pay more because they land less often, and most carry a bigger edge than the main bet.
05
Set a budget and a stop time
Decide both before the first round. Casino rounds settle in seconds, far faster than a cricket match.

Not for real money. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 bans online money games across India, including casino games, along with their advertising and payment processing. Its penalties target operators and promoters rather than players. Free-to-play games are allowed, and licensed land casinos still operate in Goa and Sikkim.
02
What is the easiest casino game to learn?
Andar Bahar and roulette. In Andar Bahar you pick one of two sides and the dealer does the rest. In roulette an even-money bet like red or black takes a minute to understand.
03
Which casino game has the lowest house edge?
Blackjack played with basic strategy on good rules, followed by the Banker bet in baccarat at about 1.06% after commission. European roulette sits at 2.7%. Slots and jackpot games usually cost more over time.
04
Is Andar Bahar a game of luck or skill?
Luck. The cards are dealt in a fixed way and you make one choice per round. No pattern in earlier rounds tells you where the next match will land.
05
What is the difference between live dealer and RNG casino games?
Live dealer games are streamed from a studio, with a real person dealing cards or spinning a wheel. RNG games use software to produce each result. RNG rounds are faster, while live tables move at the dealer's pace.
06
Can a strategy beat casino games?
No. Basic strategy lowers the edge in blackjack and good hand selection matters in poker, but no betting system turns a house edge in your favour. Doubling after a loss only makes the losing runs more expensive.
07
What does RTP mean in casino games?
Return to player is the share of all money staked that a game pays back over a very large number of rounds. A slot with 96% RTP keeps about ₹4 of every ₹100 staked in the long run. It does not predict any single session.
No system beats that edge over time, so treat casino games as paid entertainment with a fixed budget. If play stops feeling like fun, our responsible gambling guide lists the tools and helplines that can help.
