Market guide
A cricket betting market is one type of bet on a match, such as who wins the toss or how many runs come in the first six overs. Each market has its own rules, so the same match can win you one bet and void another.
Here is how every major market works, from the toss to Indian favourites like session, fancy and lambi.

Market by market
The eight markets below make up most cricket betting in India. The toss is close to pure luck. Top batsman and top bowler reward research, and session, powerplay, fancy, lambi and khada are all runs lines that suit live betting.
01
A two-way bet on which captain wins the coin toss. Settled in seconds and close to a 50/50 call.
02
Pick the player who scores the most runs for their team or in the match. Rewards form and match-up research.
03
Pick the bowler who takes the most wickets. Pitch reading and bowling roles matter more than reputation.
04
A Yes or No bet on runs scored by a set over, such as 6, 10 or 15 overs. The most-watched live market in India.
05
Bet on total runs in the fielding-restriction overs: 1 to 6 in T20, 1 to 10 in ODIs.
06
The Indian name for short live markets: runs in an over, next wicket, partnerships and player milestones.
07
A Yes or No line on a team's full innings total. The long-form version of a session bet.
08
A run-range bet: you win if the score lands inside a set band of runs. Also written khado.
Side by side
Markets differ in how much skill they reward, which formats carry them and how quickly they settle. Faster markets suit live betting, while slower ones give pre-match research more room.
| Market | Skill | Formats | Settles | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toss winner | Low | T20, ODI, Test | Before the first ball | A quick side bet, not a long-term strategy |
| Top batsman | High | T20, ODI, Test (per innings) | End of the innings or match | Bettors who follow form and batting orders |
| Top bowler | High | T20, ODI, Test (per innings) | End of the innings or match | Bettors who read pitches and bowling plans |
| Session | Medium | T20, ODI, Test (by day session) | When the set over is completed | Live bettors watching a stream |
| Powerplay | Medium | T20, ODI | At the end of over 6 (T20) or 10 (ODI) | Bettors who read pitches and opening pairs |
| Fancy | Medium | T20, ODI, Test | As soon as the event is decided | Live bettors who watch every ball |
| Lambi | Medium | T20, ODI | When the innings ends | Bettors with a view on the whole innings |
| Khada | High | T20, ODI | When the session or innings ends | Experienced bettors with a precise run estimate |
The basics
These standard markets sit at the top of every match page. They're simpler than the ones above and a good place to start.

What readers ask most about market types and rules.
Match winner is on every fixture and is where most bettors start. For live betting, session markets are the Indian favourite, and the toss is a common pre-match side bet.
Match winner, toss winner, top batsman, top bowler and total runs are standard. Fancy, lambi and khada markets are mostly found on Indian-facing sites and exchanges.
Yes. IPL games usually carry all of these markets, before the match and live. Khada is the exception, offered on fewer sites.
Each market depends on a different event. A toss bet stands once the coin lands, while a session bet needs its overs to be bowled. Rain, ties and all-outs affect each one differently, and every site writes its own house rules.
Match winner. It has the simplest rules. Once that feels familiar, top batsman and session betting are the next steps.
