Indian market

Fancy betting explained

Fancy betting is the Indian name for short side markets that run during a match. Common examples are runs in an over, runs by a set over, when the next wicket falls and a partnership total. Most fancy markets show a Yes and a No line, and some also show a rate that sets the payout.

What kinds of fancy markets are there?

Runs-based fancy covers sessions, single overs and partnership totals. Player fancy covers one batter's runs or one bowler's wickets. Event fancy covers things like the fall of the next wicket, the method of dismissal or whether there's a boundary in an over.

  • Sessions are the most common type of fancy and have their own guide.
  • Player fancy depends on exact wording, such as whether a retired-hurt batter's runs count.

How do Yes, No and rates work in fancy?

A fancy line shows two numbers, such as No 34 and Yes 35. Next to each there may be a rate, often 100. At a rate of 100, a ₹500 bet wins ₹500. A rate of 90 pays ₹450, and a rate of 110 pays ₹550. The rate changes when one side looks more likely.

  • Some sites show odds in place of rates. The idea is the same: a higher figure pays more.
  • The gap between the No and Yes numbers is how the site makes its margin.

How should beginners approach fancy betting?

Start with the simplest runs markets on matches you're watching live, and keep stakes small. Fancy lines can suspend after every ball, and a bet may be rejected if the line moves while you confirm. Skip any market you can't explain in one sentence.

  • Set a stake limit for the whole match before the first fancy bet.
  • Write down each fancy bet. Fast markets make it easy to lose track of how much you've staked.
